can't install some programs afetr sp2 is installed

I just installed XPpro with SP2 on my machine, before i
had win2000sp4,

everything is fine exept that some softare will not install!, Adobe
Premiere and Illustrator will not. Adobe After effects and others will do!
From the add programs I select the 'setup' icon and it just wont make it. I
tried exactly the same software on an other system running XPpro with SP1
and they will install without a problem! any ideas or solutions will be
MUCH appreciated.
