install failure...MSDART.DLL not located...help!

Surely, that file has been sobrewritten by some application. It installs again *Microsoft Data
Access Components (MDAC) 2,8*.

I am trying to reinstall windows XP HOME over previous HOME installation.
During the "Registering Components" phase I receive a failure message in a
popup window

Window is titled: Unregmp2.exe entry pint GetIUMs not found.

and in the body is the message: Not located MSDART.DLL.

When I close the window it just pops back. No way to exit the install.
Just loops on the fialure message forever.
I hard power down and it just starts with the install again and evenutally
gets to the same failure message described above
